The Hardcover Lover's Year End Review (2016)

I'm pretty sure I'm with everyone else when I say that I am sure glad 2016 is finally over! Honestly, it was a crappy year for me and my blog, but I'm ready to put all of that in the past and look forward to the next 363 days of 2017!

Way back in 2014, I started The Hardcover Lover, and even though I hadn't been blogging for a full year by the time 2015 came along, I thought it would be fun to do a yearly wrap-up post. Two years later, I'm here again, and I'm glad that I made them a part of my blogging experience. These once-a-year posts are a fun way for me to look back on the year I've had and look forward to the year ahead.

Books Carrying Over to 2017

Most of you may have noticed that I haven't been blogging as much lately. I also haven't been reading as much lately, but that's mostly because I've been really pressed for time. Working six days a week is hard!

Because of that, there are a few books that I started in 2016 that I'm carrying over to 2017. They are:

Black Moon by Romina Russell
Hold Me Like a Breath by Tiffany Schmidt

2017 Bookish Resolutions

  1.  Post More - I started off strong in 2016, but as the months went by, I started slowing down. I'd really like to change that, and post at least once a week or more this year.
  2.  Review More - I already have a nice collection of 2017 ARCs that I haven't started, so I'm making it another goal of mine to read and review them. I also want to read and review more of the books that I own.
  3. Bring Soundtrack Saturday Back - I started a meme in 2014, and I've only posted my bookish playlists sporadically in the past few months. I'm going to make a real effort to bring my meme back within the next few months, and I hope to see it pick up and see it on more blogs in the future.
  4. Read and Comment More - I know most bloggers will say that they comment, but what I've noticed is that a lot of bloggers seem to comment for a comment back. I not about that. However, I am a fan of reading posts that interest me and commenting on them. I'm going to make this year more about reading reviews for books I've read, or am interested in. I'm going to make this year a year of exploring memes that I like and discovering new books through other bloggers.
  5. Not Stress About Reading Challenges - Yes, you saw that right! Obviously I'm going to join in on some reading challenges, but I'm not going to let myself get too worried about it. I'm going to read what I want to read, and if those books just fall into a category, then that's cool.

  Bookish Beginnings

Some of you might know that I accepted a job as a middle school library assistant in October. While I don't know if I'll be there for the rest of the year, I've learned a lot about school libraries and libraries in general in the past two months. Also, it's really cool just to work in a room that's full of books. It's definitely been one of my favorite things about my teaching career so far.

Your 2017

We're a few days into 2017. The new year is settling in. I've talked about my goals and resolutions, and now I want to know about yours. What are you looking forward to this year? Are you planning on changing things up on your blog? Keeping it the same? Whatever you plan on doing, let me know in the comments below. It's always fun to talk about fresh starts, and what's a better fresh start than a new year.
